ARMISTICE DECLARING A CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND GREAT BRITAIN. TRANSLATIO N. ary WE, the underfigned Minifters Plenipotenti of the United States of North-America, having received from Mr. Fitz Herbert, Minifter Plenipotentiary of his Britannic Majesty, a declaration, relative to a suspenfion of arms, to be eftablished between his faid Majefty and the faid States, the tenor whereof is as follows: Wagreed upon and figned this day, HEREAS the preliminary articles between his Majesty the King of Great-Britain and his Majesty the moft Chriftian King on the one part, and likewise between his faid Britannic Majefty and his Catholic Majesty on the other part, contain the ftipulation of a ceffation of hoftilities between thofe three powers, which is to take place after the exchange of the ratifications of the faid preliminary articles: AND WHEREAS, by the provifional treaty figned on the thirtieth day of November laft, between his Britannic Majefty and the United States of North-America, it hath been stipu ARMISTICE DECLARANT UNE SUSPENSION D'ARMES ENTRE LES ETATS UNIS ET LA GRANDE BRETAGNE. NOUS fouffignés Miniftres Plénipotentiaires des Etats-Unis de l'Amerique Septentrio nale, aïant reçu de la part de M. Fitzherbert, Miniftre Plénipotentiaire de fa Majefté Britannique, une déclaration relative à une fufpenfion d'armes à établir entre fa dite Majefté et les dits Etats, dont la teneur s'en fuit: OMME les articles preliminaires arrêtés et fignés aujourd'hui entre sa Majefté le Roi de la Grande Bretagne et fa Majefté le Roi Très Chrétien d'une part, et auffi entre fa dite Majefté Britannique et fa Majefté Catholique d'autre part, renferment la ftipulation de la ceffation des hoftilités entre ces trois Puiffances; laquelle doit commencer après l'échange des ratifications des dits articles préliminaires et comme par le traité provifionel figné le 30 Novembre dernier entre fa Majesté Britannique et les Etats-Unis de l'Amérique Septentrionale, il a été ftipulé, que ce traité fortiroit fon effet auffitôt que la paix en lated that, that treaty fhould take effect as foon as peace fhould be established between the faid crowns: The underfigned Minister Plenipotentiary of his Britannic Majefty, does declare, in the name and by the express order of the King, his master, that the faid United States of North-America, their fubjects and their poffeffions, fhall be comprehended in the above-mentioned fufpenfion of arms, and that, in confequence, they fhall enjoy the benefit of the ceffation of hoftilities, at the fame epochs, and in the fame manner as the three crowns above-mentioned, their fubjects, and their refpective poffeffions; the whole upon condition, that on the part and in the name of the faid United States of North-America, a fimilar declaration fhall be delivered exprefsly, declaring their affent to the present fufpenfion of arms, and containing the affurance of the moft perfect reciprocity on their part. IN FAITH WHEREOF, we, the Minifter Plenipotentiary of his Britannic Majefty, have figned the prefent declaration, and have caufed the feal of our arms to be thereto affixed.
