EXTRACTS OF A CASE,

March 10, 1854. Mr., American, wine merchant, æt. 35, single, called to consult me apon a urinary difficulty of several years standing. The history of the case was as follows:

Eleven years ago, being at sea, he fell a distance of sixty feet from the masthead of the ship; breaking the violence of the fall, however, by catching hold of sundry ropes, until he finally lodged astraddle of one. At the time of the accident, he experienced only a momentary inconvenience; so little, in fact, that he soon went aloft again. Twelve months afterwards, without any known cause, he passed blood in the urine; and this continued for some time without any irritability of the bladder, and has continued at irregular intervals to manifest itself ever since. Four or five years after the fall, he commenced to suffer from great irritability of the bladder, being called upon to empty its contents every hour, night and day; and this condition still exists. Six years after the accident, both testicles were attacked by a slow, sub-acute inflammation, coming on, as patient supposes, after a strain; and he very soon discovered
