With sal-va-tion's walls sur-round-ed, Thou may'st smile at all thy foes. A-men.

2 See, the streams of living waters

Springing from eternal love,

Well supply thy sons and daughters,
And all fear of want remove.
Who can faint, while such a river

Ever flows their thirst t'assuage
Grace which, like the Lord, the giver,
Never fails from age to age.

3 Round each habitation hovering, See the cloud and fire appear For a glory and a covering,

Showing that the Lord is near;

Thus deriving from their banner,
Light by night, and shade by day,
Safe they feed upon the manna

Which He gives them when they pray.

4 Blest inhabitants of Zion,

Washed in the Redeemer's blood!

Jesus, whom their souls rely on,

Makes them kings and priests to God.

'Tis His love His people raises

Over self to reign as kings:

And as priests, His solemn praises
Each for a thank-offering brings.

I prize her heavenly ways,

Her sweet communion, solemn vows, Her hymns of love and praise.

5 Sure as Thy truth shall last, To Zion shall be given

The brightest glories earth can yield, And brighter bliss of heaven.

I can but give the gifts He gave, And plead His love for love.

A-men.

2 I dimly guess, from blessings known, Of greater out of sight;

And, with the chastened Psalmist, own
His judgments too are right.
And if my heart and flesh are weak

To bear an untried pain,
The bruised reed He will not break,
But strengthen and sustain.

3 I know not what the future hath
Of marvel or surprise,

Assured alone that life and death
His mercy underlies.

And so beside the silent sea
I wait the muffled oar;

No harm from Him can come to me
On ocean or on shore.

4 I know not where His islands lift
Their fronded palms in air;

I only know I cannot drift
Beyond His love and care.

And Thou, O Lord, by whom are seen
Thy creatures as they be,
Forgive me if too close I lean

My human heart on Thee.

2 Thy mighty name salvation is,

And keeps my happy soul above; Comfort it brings, and power, and peace, And joy, and everlasting love; To me, with Thy dear name, are given Pardon, and holiness, and heaven.

3 Jesus, my all in all Thou art,

My rest in toil, my ease in pain,
The medicine of my broken heart,

In war, my peace, in loss, my gain,
My smile beneath the tyrant's frown,
In shame, my glory and my crown;
4 In want, my plentiful supply,

In weakness, my almighty power,
In bonds, my perfect liberty,

My light in Satan's darkest hour,
In grief, my joy unspeakable,-
My life in death, my all in all.

C. Wesley, 1749

1 THOU hidden love of God, whose height, Whose depth unfathomed no man knows,

I see from far Thy beauteous light,
Inly I sigh for Thy repose:
My heart is pained, nor can it be
At rest till it finds rest in Thee.

2 'Tis mercy all that Thou hast brought
My mind to seek her peace in Thee;
Yet while I seek, but find Thee not,
No peace my wandering soul shall see.
Oh, when shall all my wanderings end,
And all my steps to Thee-ward tend!
3 0 Love, Thy sovereign aid impart

To save me from low-thoughted care; Chase this self-will through all my heart, Through all its latent mazes there; Make me Thy duteous child, that I Ceaseless may "Abba, Father," cry.

4 Each moment draw from earth away My heart, that lowly waits Thy call; Speak to my inmost soul, and say, "I am thy Love, thy God, thy All." To feel Thy power, to hear Thy voice, To taste Thy love, be all my choice.
