Charles Tebbs, Esq.

No. 81.

(By a Lord.) It was not a loose Paper, but in a Book ?

They were all in the Book; Copies of Monumental Tablets almost exclusively.

All to Members of the Family?

Yes; I inspected them all; they seemed to have been placed there in chronological Order; as the Parties died and a Monument was erected, a Copy of it was taken and put into this Family Record in its proper Order.

What does it purport to be?

A Pedigree of the Family from very ancient Time down to the present Period.

Had you ever seen it before the particular Time at which Miss Lovett gave it you?

No.

Nor the Book?

No; I was unacquainted with the Family altogether.

There are Three Wafers; was it wafered into the Book?
It was not attached to the Book.

Was there any Title outside the Book?

Not that I recollect; I did not look at the Cover; it was opened in my Presence, and this was taken out; it was not then folded as it is now; that was done by myself; it was all open; it never had been folded up.

Mr. Attorney General stated, That he left the Matter to their Lordships, whether any Rule of Evidence would be violated by receiving this Document; that he did not feel it his Duty to make any Objection.

The Counsel were informed, That this Document might be received in Evidence.

Is that in your Hand a Copy of it examined by yourself?
It is.

The same was delivered in, and read as follows:

(See opposite Page.)

Mr. Attorney General stated, That His Majesty had been pleased to refer to him the Petition of Sir Percival Hart Dyke; that he had gone through the Pedigree, and that it appeared to be satisfactorily made out; and that he had humbly recommended that His Majesty would refer the Petition to this House.
