4. What do you understand by the "Ionian Islands?" What form of Government prevails in those islands, and when was it established?

5. Mention the chief political changes which have happened in Great Britain and Ireland since 1789.

6. What do you understand by the terms "the New Poor Law," "the Repeal of the Corn Laws,” "the Sliding Scale," "Catholic Emancipation,” "the Swing Burnings," and "the Navigation Laws."

7. Write a life of any great British Statesman who has flourished since 1789.

8. When did the connexion between Great Britain and Hanover cease? What advantages or disadvantages did Great Britain derive from that connexion?

9. Who were the Princess Charlotte, Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, the Marquis Wellesley, Mr. Huskisson, Lord Castlereagh, Earl Grey, and Lord Melbourne?

10. Enumerate briefly the alliances which Great Britain has made with Foreign Powers since 1789.

5. If 1120 flag-stones each 1 foot 6 inches square, will pave a barrack-yard, how many stones will be required to pave a yard four times the size, each stone measuring 14 inches by 9 inches. 6. Add together

1. What is meant by the 'course of exchange' between two countries? If the course of exchange between London and Amsterdam be 33 shillings and 6 pence Flemish per pound sterling, and between London and Lisbon be 50 pence sterling per milree, find the rate of exchange between Amsterdam and Lisbon.
