ALLELUJAH! hark on high!

H How the countless myriads cry,

Hallelujah!

Like a thousand thunders roaring,
Like a thousand torrents pouring.

Hallelujah! melting floats

On the infant's silver notes;

"Here," they lisp, “are we possessing

Unimagined, boundless blessing.”

Hallelujah! loud and long

Swells the youth's robuster tongue;

Quelled and pardoned every passion,

Deep they roll their adoration.

Hallelujah! prudent age,

Adds in accents slow and sage,

Hal.!

Hal.!

Hal.!

"From cares and sorrows disencumbered,

Here we offer thanks unnumbered." Hal.!

B

Thrones and powers of every name,
Cherub beauty, seraph flame,

Join with man, till heaven so stable,
Shakes with one inimitable Hallelujah!

OSANNA to the living Lord!

Hosanna to the Incarnate Word!
To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King,
Let heaven, let earth hosanna sing.
Hosanna, Lord, hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna, Lord! thine angels cry;
Hosanna, Lord! thy saints reply;
Above, beneath us, all around,
The dead and living swell the sound.

Hosanna, &c.
O Father! dwell in every heart,
Thy Holy Spirit now impart,
And make our secret soul to be
A temple pure, and worthy thee.

Hosanna, &c.
So in the last and awful day,
When earth and heaven shall melt away,
Thy flock redeemed from sinful stain,
Shall swell the sound of praise again.

[blocks in formation]

Hosanna, &c.

YOME, O! come, with sacred lays, Let us sound the Almighty's praise,

Hither bring in true consent,
Heart, and voice, and instrument ;
Not a creature dumb be found,
That hath either voice or sound.
Let such things as do not live,
In still music praises give ;
Come, ye sons of human race,
In this chorus take your place,
And amid this joyous throng,
Be you masters of the song.
Let in praise of God the sound
Run a never-ending round,
That our holy hymns may be
Everlasting, as is He;

And so climb from sphere to sphere,
Till our song the Almighty hear.
So shall He, from heaven's high tower,
On the earth his blessings shower,
All this huge wide orb we see,
Shall one choir, one temple be;
Then, O! come, with sacred lays,
Let us sound the Almighty's praise.

NGELS holy,
Bending lowly,

Sing the praises of the Lord!

Young and old, all living nature,
Come, adore the great Creator,
Praise ye, praise ye, God the Lord!
