This number of our proceedings, the last one of our vacation number, contains an original address by Mr. C. H. Markham, President of the Illinois Central R. R., on the subject, "The Railroad Superintendent." It should be read by every member, as it contains matters of interest to all railroad employes.

Our next meeting to be held on September 8th inaugurates our Twenty-First Anniversary, and we expect to enter Man's Estate with a rousing rally. The Executives of all lines operating through this gateway have been invited to attend this meeting and lend encouragement, by their presence, to your constructive work, your loyalty and devotion.

The burden of making this meeting, and every meeting of our twenty-first fiscal year, successful, rests upon your attendance and our very efficient Topics Committee, who are searching every nook and corner of America's most productive genius to furnish our programs with a never-ending list of interesting and entertaining papers. This committee's work for the coming season is well under way, and the high standard of our past offerings will be maintained, if not excelled, can be assured.
