2 Vows and longings, hopes and fears,
Broken-hearted sighs and tears,
Dreams of what we yet might be
Could we cling more close to thee,
Which, despite of faults and failings,
Help thy grace in its prevailings-
On thine altar laid we leave them;
Christ, present them! God, receive them!

3 Homage of each humble heart,
Ere we from thy house depart;
Worship fervent, deep and high,
Adoration, ecstasy;

All that childlike love can render
Of devotion true and tender-
On thine altar laid we leave them,

Christ, present them! God, receive them!

IO GRACIOUS God in whom I live,

Ο

My feeble efforts aid;

Help me to watch, and pray, and strive,
Though trembling and afraid.

2 Increase my faith-increase my hope,
When foes and fears prevail;
And bear my fainting spirit up,
Or soon my strength will fail.

3 O keep me in the heavenly way,
And bid the tempter flee;
And let me never, never stray
From happiness and thee.

ISINNER, bring not tears alone,
Or outward form of prayer,

But let it in thy heart be known
That penitence is there.

2 To smite the breast, the clothes to rend,
God asketh not of thee;

Thy secret soul he bids thee bend
In true humility.

3 O let us, then, with heartfelt grief,
Draw near unto our God,

And pray to him to grant relief,
And stay the lifted rod.

4 O righteous Judge, if thou wilt deign
To grant us what we need,

We pray for time to turn again,
And grace to turn indeed.

I'LL go to Jesus, though my sin

Like mountains round me close;
I know his courts, I'll enter in,
Whatever may oppose.

2 Prostrate I'll lie before his throne,
And there my guilt confess;
I'll tell him I'm a wretch undone
Without his sovereign grace.

I

HERE, at thy cross, my gracious Lord,

I lay my soul beneath thy love:

Here be it sprinkled with thy blood,
Nor ever from thy feet remove!

GRACE CHURCH.

2 Should worlds conspire to drive me hence,
Moveless and firm this heart should lie;
Resolved, for 'tis my last defence,
If I must perish, here to die.

3 But speak, my Lord, and calm my fear;
Am I not safe beneath thy shade?
Thy vengeance will not strike me here,
Nor Satan dare my soul invade.

4 Yes, I'm secure beneath thy blood,
And all my foes shall lose their aim:
Hosanna to my Saviour God!
And loudest praises to his name.

"PITY, LORD."

I LORD, I believe; thy power I own,
Thy word I would obey;

I wander comfortless and lone,
When from thy truth I stray.

2 Lord, I believe; but gloomy fears
Sometimes bedim my sight;

I look to thee with prayers and tears,
And cry for strength and light.

3 Lord, I believe; but oft, I know,
My faith is cold and weak:

My weakness strengthen, and bestow
The confidence I seek!

4 Yes! I believe; and only thou
Canst give my soul relief,

Lord! to thy truth my spirit bow;
"Help thou mine unbelief!"
