By an act of the 1907-08 Legislature, the East Oklahoma Hospital for the Insane was created and located at Vinita, Okla., on the condition that the town of Vinita should deed to the state of Oklahoma one hundred and sixty acres of land in fee simple and that the town should furnish the institution with flowing artesian water. The control and management of the hospital is vested in a board of three trustees appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the senate. The buildings are, so far, incomplete and the officers of the institution consist of the three members of the board of trustees: Oliver Bagby, chairman, Vinita; C. L. Long, Wewoka; and J. J. Maroney, Okmulgee. Provision is made in the law creating the institution for the appointment of a medical superintendent and steward, and such other subordinate officers as are necessary. H. B.
