CHAP. 1.

An Act to amend the "Coroners' Act, 1879."

[21st April, 1882.]

ER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

"Coroners' Act, 1879."

1. Section 3 of the Act passed in the forty-second year of the Amends sec. 3 of the present reign, Chapter 9, intituled "An Act respecting Coroners,' is hereby amended by adding to the said section the following words:

Colliery accidents.

"Provided always, that the foregoing provisions shall not apply Inquests in cases of in case of death occurring through any accident or mischance in or about any colliery, but in the event of any such death an inquest shall be held after request in writing, given to the Coroner by the Inspector of Mines, or in the absence of the said Inspector by any two male inhabitants of the vicinity where the death occurs."

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, the provisions of Chap. 5, Stats. 1881, not the Act passed in the 44th year of Her Majesty's reign (Chapter 5, Collieries. 1881), intituled "An Act respecting Coroners' Inquests," shall not apply to inquests held in cases of deaths occurring through accident or mischance in or about any colliery.

3. This Act may be cited as the "Coroners' Amendment Act, Short title. 1882."
