EORGE, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, &c. To all to whom these Prefents fhall come, Greeting. Whereas Our Trufty and Well-beloved Jofiah Burchett, Efq; hath humbly reprefented unto Us, that he hath with great Care and Pains compiled a Work entituled, A Compleat Hiftory of the most Remarkable Tranfactions at Sea, from the earliest Accounts of Time to the Conclufion of the last War with France. In five Books. And hath therefore humbly prayed Us to grant him Our Royal Privilege and Licence for the fole printing and publishing the faid Hiftory; We are graciously pleased to condefcend to his Request, and do therefore hereby give and grant unto the faid fo fiah Burchett Our Royal Licence and Privilege for the fole printing and publishing the faid History compiled by him the said Jofiah Burchett, for and during the Term of fourteen Years, to be computed from the Day of the Date hereof. Strictly charging prohibiting, and forbidding all our Subjects within our Kingdoms and Dominions to reprint or abridge the fame, either in the like, or any other Volume or Volumes whatsoever, or to import, buy, vend, utter, or distribute any Copies of the fame, or any part thereof reprinted beyond the Seas, during the faid Term of fourteen Years, without the Confent and Approbation of him the faid Jofiah Burchett, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators, and Affigns, by writing under his or their Hands and Seals firft had and obtained, as they and every of them offending herein, will anfwer the contrary at their perils; whereof the Mafter, Wardens, and Company of Stationers of Our City of London, Commiffioners and Officers of Our Customs, and all other Our Of ficers and Ministers, whom it may concern, are to take due Notice, that strict Obedience be given to Our Pleasure herein fignified. Given at Our Court at St. James's the 20th Day of November 1719, in the Sixth Year of Our Reign.
