Communicable Diseases-Habana. Communicable diseases have been notified at Habana as follows:

Plague has been reported in Egypt as follows:

October 1-7, 1923--13 cases, of which 2 occurred at Alexandria, 3 at Suez, the remaining cases being distributed in three districts. October 8-14, 1923–16 cases, of which 2 occurred at Alexandria, 1 at Suez, and 13 in three districts. October 22–28, 1923–6 cases, of which 2 occurred at Alexandria, 1 at Suez, and 3 were distributed in two districts. October 29-November 4, 1923–17 cases, 1 each occurring at Alexandria and Suez, the remaining cases being distributed in three districts, the greatest number of cases having been notified in the district of Luxor, viz, 12. The total number of casts reported from January 1 to November 4, 1923, was 1,413, as compared with 459 cases reported during the corresponding period of the preceding year.

JAVA.

Plague-Smallpox. Epidemic plague and smallpox have been reported in the island of Java as follows: October 3, 1923—at Kepoh, Residency of Soerakarta, epidemic plague; October 19, 1923, at Soerabaya City, cpidemic smallpox. The municipal health department was stated to have offered free vaccination to all natives.
