JOHN BULL.

Among other symptoms of the wide-spread character of the evil, we may mention that Mr. Colenso, the new Bishop of Natal, has taken leave of his English congregation in a volume of sermons; which volume he dedicates to Mr. Maurice in a letter, in which this new-made Colonial Bishop is not ashamed to attribute to him almost all the knowledge he possesses of Christianity! It is no matter of surprise, that these Sermons contain errors as destructive of the Atonement and of all the great pillars of the Gospel, as anything contained in the heretical publications of his eccentric preceptor."-THE RECORD.

"We rejoice that such a man, with the robust faith, fine feeling, and deep purpose displayed in this small volume, is the missionary-bishop of a new and important colony."-NONCONFORMIST, Nov. 2, 1853.

"Have a freshness, simplicity, and earnestness which we would fain see more general."-ENGLISH CHURCHMAN, Nov. 10, 1853.

Eschyli Eumenides.

The Greek Text with English Notes: with an Introduction,
containing an Analysis of C. O. Müller's Dissertations; and an
English Metrical Translation. By BERNARD DRAKE, M.A.,
Fellow of King's College, Cambridge, Editor of "Demosthenes
de Corona."
8vo. cloth, 7s. 6d.

"A goodly text, with English notes and an informing introduction. To these
Mr. Drake has added an English version, which more than conveys
to the reader an idea of the action of the piece and the weight of the
sentiments. The Choruses are free, animated, and poetical."

SPECTATOR, April 23, 1853. "Mr. Drake's ability as a critical Scholar is known and admitted. In the edition of the Eumenides before us we meet with him also in the capacity of a Poet and Historical Essayist. In his historical views, we are disposed to agree. He controverts at length and with much ability, Müller's well-known theory. The translation is flowing and melodious, elegant and scholarlike. The Greek Text is well printed: the notes are clear and useful."-GUARDIAN, April 27, 1853.

"The Scholar will thank Mr. Drake for his careful Edition and its brief, excellent notes; will thank him also for the Analysis of Muller's Dissertations; and for the ability, learning, and zeal displayed in this volume.
