A lantern to our foot - steps, Shines on from age to age. A-men.

2 The Church from Thee, her Master,

Received the gift divine;

And still that light she lifteth

O'er all the earth to shine;

It is the golden casket

Where gems of truth are stored; It is the heaven-drawn picture Of Thee, the living Word.

3 It floateth like a banner Before God's host unfurled; It shineth like a beacon

Above the darkling world; It is the chart and compass, That o'er life's surging sea, 'Mid mists, and rocks, and quicksands, Still guides, O Christ, to Thee.

4 O make Thy Church, dear Saviour,
A lamp of burnished gold,
To bear before the nations
Thy true light, as of old.
O teach Thy wandering pilgrims
By this their path to trace,
Till, clouds and darkness ended,
They see Thee face to face.

Bishop WILLIAM W. Hov 1867

Fa-ther of all, Whose love profound A ran-som for our souls hath found,

Be-fore Thy throne we sin-ners bend: To us Thy pard'ning love ex-tend. A-men.

2 Almighty Son, incarnate Word,
Our Prophet, Priest, Redeemer, Lord,
Before Thy throne we sinners bend:
To us Thy saving grace extend.

3 Eternal Spirit, by Whose breath

The soul is raised from sin and death,
Before Thy throne we sinners bend:
To us Thy quickening power extend.

4 Jehovah, Father, Spirit, Son,-
Mysterious Godhead, Three in One,
Before Thy throne we sinners bend:
Grace, pardon, life, to us extend.

2 O Holy Father, Who hast led Thy children

In all the ages, with the fire and cloud,
Through seas dry-shod; through weary wastes bewildering;
To Thee, in reverent love, our hearts are bowed.

3 O Holy Jesus, Prince of Peace and Saviour,

To Thee we owe the peace that still prevails,
Stilling the rude wills of men's wild behavior,
And calming passion's fierce and stormy gales.

4 O Holy Ghost, the Lord and the Life-Giver,

Thine is the quickening power that gives increase.
From Thee have flowed, as from a pleasant river,
Our plenty, wealth, prosperity and peace.

5 O Triune God, with heart and voice adoring,

Praise we the goodness that has crowned our day;
Pray we, that Thou wilt hear us, still imploring
Thy love and favor, kept to us alway.
