ISAIAH lv. 1.

COME, ye sinners poor and wretched,

Wander from the Lord no more;

Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity joined with power:
He is able,

He is willing,doubt no more.
2 Ho! ye needy, come and welcome,
God's free mercy take with joy;
True belief, and true repentance,
Every grace that brings us nigh,
Without money,

Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
3 Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness Christ requireth
Is to feel your need of him;
This he gives you,

'Tis the Spirit's rising beam.

4 Saints and angel joined in concert,
Sing the praises of the Lamb,
While the blissful realms of heaven
Sweetly echo with his name,
Hallelujah!

Sinners here may sing the same.

COME ye

PSALM XXXvi. 8

NOME ye that love the Lord, And let your joys be known; Join in a song with sweet accord, And thus surround the throne.

The sorrows of the mind
Be banished from this place!
Religon never was designed
To make our pleasures less.

Let those refuse to sing
Who never knew our God;
But children of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad.

Soon we shall see his face,
And never, never sin;

Soon, from the river of his grace,

Drink endless pleasures in.

Yes, and before we rise

To that immortal state,

The thoughts of such amazing bliss

Should constant joys create.

The men of grace have found
Glory begun below;

Celestial fruit on earthly ground
From faith and hope may grow.

The hill of Zion yields

A thousand sacred sweets,

Before we reach the heavenly fields

Or walk the golden streets.

8 Then let our songs abound And every tear be dry;

We're marching through Immanuel's ground,
To fairer worlds on high.

Pursue the heavenly road,

Thus let us often meet

To bless our King and God,
And seek the grace to travel on,
Till all appear before his throne.

Nearer, and nearer still,
We to our country come,
To the celestial hill

Where we shall be at home;
The new Jerusalem above,
The seat of everlasting love.

The ransomed sons of God,
Earth's idols let us scorn,
As to our high abode

We joyfully return;

And still with growing strength proceed,
Where God the Spirit deigns to lead.

The peace and joy of faith

Each moment we may feel,
Since saved from sin and death,
From sorrow and from hell,

We to our Father's house repair,
To meet our loved Redeemer there.

Our Saviour, Prince, and Head,
Our all in all is He,

'Tis in his steps we tread,

His face we soon shall see;

6. 8.

Glory to God! then pain is done;
For earth is passed, and heaven is won.

PSALM CXlV. 1, 2.

L. M.

REATION'S Author, Lord, and Friend, What region lies beyond thy care ? All things upon thy power depend, All things thy love and bounty share. 2 Those whom thy grace and love sustain Obey with joy thy sovereign will; And those who dread and hate thy reign No less thy purposes fulfil.

3 Kept by Almighty power, to thee
Angels and saints their tribute yield;
And thou for evermore wilt be

Their light and life, their sun and shield.
4 O great beyond our highest thought,
O good beyond all love and praise,
Through every world thy creatures ought
To celebrate thy works and ways.

5 But more than all, 'tis meet and right
That we, redeemed and saved by grace,
Should bless thy name with new delight,
Through every hour, in every place.

97 ACTS xvii. 31. John v. 25. Matt. xxv. 34.
DAY
AY of judgment, day of wonders,
Hark! the trumpet's awful sound,
Louder than a thousand thunders,
Shakes the vast creation round:

8. 7. 4.

How the summons

Will the sinner's heart confound!

2 See the Judge our nature wearing,
Clothed in majesty divine!
You who long for his appearing
Then shall say, "This God is mine!"
Gracious Saviour,

Own me in that day for thine. 3 At his call the dead awaken,

Rise to life from earth and sea,
All the powers of nature shaken,
At his look prepare to flee;
Careless sinner!

What will then become of thee?
4 But to those who have confessed,
Loved and served the Lord below,
He will say, Come near, ye blessed,
See the kingdom I bestow:

6

You for ever

Shall my love and glory know.'
5 Should we meet with care and sadness,
Should we bear reproach and shame,
This may fill our hearts with gladness,
Millions shall adore his name;

98

1

He must triumph,

Glory, glory to the Lamb.

MATTHEW i. 23.

DEAREST of all the names above,
My Saviour and my God,

C. M.
