And all my hopes would ever place, On thy almighty power.
3 Whilst thou dost still prolong my breath, I'll think how vile I am;
Whom nought could ransom but thy death, Of agony and shame.
4 I'll think too, till I die, how good, How kind thou art to me;
And Jesus, may thy flesh and blood, My daily manna be.
JESUS, our Saviour and our King, Assume, assert thy sway;
Till men, subdued, their tribute bring, And distant lands obey.
2 Send forth thy word, and let it run This spacious earth around; Till every soul beneath the sun Shall hear the joyful sound.
3 Oh, may thy great and saving name, Through every clime be known; And heathen tribes renounce with shame, Their gods of wood and stone.
4 And where the idols are cast out, Be thou by all adored;
And earth's rejoicing millions shout, Hosannas to the Lord.
ESUS, Saviour of my soul, To thy care and love I fly, While the raging billows roll, While the tempest still is high; Hide me, O my Saviour, hide, Till the storm of life be past; Safe into the haven guide, Oh, receive my soul at last. 2 Other refuge have I none, Clings my helpless soul to thee, Leave, oh, leave me not alone, Still support and comfort me; All my trust on thee is stayed, All my help from thee I bring; Cover my defenceless head With the shadow of thy wing.
3 Thou, O Christ, art all I want, More than all in thee I find, Raise the fallen, cheer the faint, Heal the sick and lead the blind; Just and holy is thy name, I am all unrighteousness; Vile and full of sin I am,
Thou art full of truth and grace.
4 Plenteous grace with thee is found, Grace to pardon all my sin;
Let the healing streams abound, Make and keep me pure within:
Thou of life the fountain art, Freely let me take of thee; Spring thou up within my heart, Rise to all eternity.
ESUS shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journies run; His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more. 2 People and realms of every tongue, Dwell on his love with sweetest song; And infant voices shall proclaim Their early blessings on his name. 3 Blessings abound where'er he reigns; The prisoner leaps to lose his chains; The weary find eternal rest,
And all the sons of want are blest.
4 Where he displays his healing power, Death and the curse are known no more; In him the tribes of Adam boast, More blessings than their father lost. 5 Let every creature rise and bring Peculiar honors to our King; Angels descend with songs again, And earth repeat the loud Amen.
MATTHEW xxviii. 18. HEBREWS ii. 17, 18.—vii, 25.
JESUS the Lord of glory died, That we might never die;
And now he reigns supreme to guide His people to the sky.
2 Weak though we are, he still is near To lead, console, defend;
In all our sorrow, sin, and fear, Our all-sufficient Friend.
3 From his high throne in bliss, he deigns Our every prayer to heed; Bears with our folly, soothes our pains, Supplies our every need.
4 Still, through his intercession spared, We find him true and kind; Though we are as the marble hard, And changeful as the wind.
5 And from his love's exhaustless spring, Joys like a river come,
To make the desert bloom and sing O'er which we travel home.
6 O Jesus, there is none like thee, Our Saviour and our Lord;
Through earth and heaven exalted be, Beloved, obeyed, adored.
1 JESUS, the Son of God, hath died, Our sins to bear, our guilt to hide; We must not do what made him die, Nor love what caused his
2 Jesus hath loved us, and will love ; Faithful hath proved, and still will prove; Our Saviour, Shepherd, Brother, Friend, From the beginning to the end.
3 Jesus is our atoning Priest,
Whose death hath us from death released; He ever pleads our cause with God, And hath prepared our bright abode.
4 Sin brought him to the accursed tree, Oppressed him at Gethsemane ; Tortured his heart while here below, And is his just abhorrence now.
5 We must not break his holy laws, We must not hurt his sacred cause, Nor put him to an open shame, Nor make the world blaspheme his name.
6 Jesus, may thy example shine Before us that we may not sin;
In us all love and zeal create,
And make us hate what thou dost hate.
ACTS iv. 12. JOHN xiv. 6.
ESUS, the spring of joys divine,
Whence all our hopes and comforts flow; Jesus, no other name but thine
Can save us from eternal woe.
2 In vain would reason seek to find The way to happiness and God;
