And show that we in earnest grieve,
By doing so no more.

Lord, make us thus sincere
To watch as well as pray ;
However small, however dear,
Take all our sins away.

And since the Saviour came
To make us turn from sin;

With holy grief and humble shame,
May we at once begin.

SINCE

PSALM XXvii. 8. JOHN xvii. 11.

C. M.

INCE thou hast said, "seek ye my face,"
Lord, we obey thy voice;

And in thy power and saving grace,
We gratefully rejoice.

2 Here, joy is ever mixed with woe,
And ill with good we find;
Nor is there any bliss below
Can fill the immortal mind.

3 The path unto our blessed abode,
Through various dangers lies;
A thousand snares beset the road,
A thousand terrors rise.

4 Satan and sin unite their art

To turn us from thee Lord;

Guard by thy grace each tempted heart,
And guide us by thy word.

5 Our Guardian, our Almighty Friend,
On thee our hopes we rest;

On thee our strength and peace depend,
Be near us and we're blessed.

1 SINCE

MATTHEW V. 14-16.

INCE we believe what Jesus saith,
And know his word is true,

May we be bold to own our faith,

And be obedient too.

2 Suppress our shame, subdue our fear,
And arm us, Lord, with zeal;
That what we are we may appear,
And speak the things we feel.

3 So may our lives and actions shine,
Through grace by thee bestowed;
That men may see thy grace divine,
And glorify our God.

4 And when with all thy saints we meet
Our Saviour face to face,

We'll cast our crowns before his feet,
And sing thy boundless grace.

SIN

MARK XVI. 15. ACTS viii. 4.
PHILIPPIANS i. 27.-ii. 15.

C. M.

L. M

NINCE we have known the joyful sound And have the only Saviour found, Let us with joy his saving name Throughout the earth to all proclaim. 2 Allowed of God to hold in trust The gospel light, 'tis only just

That we our utmost efforts use,
And far and wide this light diffuse.
3 Zeal should in all believers reign,
And love to Christ that zeal sustain;
His influence o'er our course preside,
His bright example be our guide.
4 Send out thy light and truth, O Lord,
Scatter thy saving truths abroad;
In every land thy word be sown,
By every soul the Saviour known.

1 JOHN iii. 1. PSALM 1xxxi. 1. ROMANS viii. 31. 7's.

1 SING aloud to God our strength,
Sing with wonder of his love;
Who can tell its breadth and length?
Who below, or who above.

2 He will keep us to the end,
He is with us where we go:
Since the Almighty is our friend,
Who can be to us a foe?

SING

PSALM CV.

ING praises to the Lord,
Adore his holy name;

His wondrous works, his saving word
To all the world proclaim.

2 The glories of our King

Let every lip record;

Let every heart rejoice and sing,
That humbly seeks the Lord.

S. M.

3 Oh, seek him for his grace,
Oh, seek him for his might,
Seek evermore his glorious face,
And in his love delight.

4

His mercies to our sires

To us shall be renewed;

His covenant when time expires

Shall stand as it has stood.

ISAIAH lv. 7.-lvii. 20. EZEKIEL Xviii. 31, 32.

494 PROVERBS XXII. 8. MATTHEW vii. 18. JAMESÍ. 7. C. M.

1 CINNERS, the voice of God regard,
SIN
'Tis mercy speaks to-day;

He calls you, by his sovereign word,
From sin's destructive

way.

2 Like the rough sea that cannot rest
You live devoid of peace;

A thousand passions in your breast
Rage on, and never cease.

3 Your way is dark, and leads to hell;
Why will you persevere ?
Will you in endless torment dwell
A torment sure and near?

4 Why will you in the crooked ways
Of sin and folly go?

In pain you labor all your days,
To reap eternal woe.

5 Oh, turn to God and you shall live,
For he doth guilt remove;

And every precious blessing give
To those who trust his love.

6 Submit, then, to your sovereign Lord,
Renouncing every sin;

Receive each promise of his word,
And learn his will divine.

7 His love exceeds our highest thought
For he has Christ bestowed;

And all in Christ, at length, are brought
To heaven his blessed abode.

ROMANS viii 14.

MATTHEW v. 16.-xvi. 24.
1 THESSALONIANS iv. 16-18.

O let our lips and lives express
The holy gospel we profess,
That men may see our virtues shine,
And own the doctrine is divine.

L. M.

2 Thus shall we best proclaim abroad
The glory of our Saviour God,
When God the Spirit reigns within,
And grace subdues the power of sin.
3 Self must be steadily denied
Passion subdued and sinful pride;
While justice, temperance, truth, and love
Our faith and our adoption prove.

4 And let this bear our spirits up,
We toil and strive sustained by hope,
E'er long to see our glorious Lord
Return, by heaven and earth adored.
