The present publication also contains the latest General Regulations of the Commissioners, some of which, viz., the General Election Order and the General Dispensary Regulations, have been completely revised and re-issued since the last edition of the "Compendium" was prepared. Various amendments have also been made, in consequence of changes made in the law, in the General Order for regulating the meetings and proceedings of Boards of Guardians ; and some new Regulations as to the mode of charging Expenses incurred under the Sanitary Acts, and as to Contracts for Medical and Surgical Supplies, have been issued. All these amendments and additions
have been included in the present volume.
The work is divided into four parts-an arrangement which, it is hoped, will be found convenient and calculated to facilitate reference.
Part I. comprises only Statutes which relate directly to the administration of the Laws for Relief of the Poor.
Part II. comprises provisions of Statutes which, though not strictly Poor Law Acts, impose duties upon Boards of Guardians or their officers, or affect the Collection of the Rate, viz.:-The General Valuation Acts, some provisions of Municipal Acts and the Parliamentary Voters Acts, the Sanitary Acts, Vaccination Acts, Burial Grounds Acts, the Acts for the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages, the Acts relating to the Removal of Poor Persons from England and Scotland to Ireland, &c., &c.
Part III. comprises all the General Regulations
