Nothing brought Him from above,
Nothing but Redeeming Love.

5 He subdu'd th' infernal pow'rs,
Those tremendous foes of ours,
From their boasted empire drove,
Mighty in Redeeming Love.

6 Hither; then, your praises bring,
And of Jesus gladly sing;

Gladly join the hosts above,
Join to praise Redeeming Love.

LXXXI.-8s.

1 ARM of the Lòrd-awake, awake!
The yoke of Judah's bondage break;
Tear from her captive neck the chain
And raise her from the dust again.

2 Awake- as in the days of old,

Bring back the wand'rers to Thy fold.
Shall Israel's sons for ever rove

Far from the house and land they love?

3 O no! before our gladd'ning eyes,
We see the Star of Jacob rise;
The fulness of the isles doth come,
Leading the exil'd people home!

4 They come, they come, on every side,
To Zion bend, a whelming tide;
To Zion bend-no more to stray:
The veil, the veil is torn away!

5 Peace round them now, where 'er they go,
Shall like a deep'ning river flow;
The conqueror shall conquer'd be,
And captive led captivity.

LXXXII.-6, 6, 8, 6.

1 COME, ye that love the Lord,
And let your joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
And thus approach the throne.

2 Let those refuse to sing

1

Who never knew our God;

But children should their praises bring,

And speak their joys abroad.

3 The God who rules on high,

And all the earth surveys; Who rides upon the stormy sky, And calms the roaring seas;

4 This glorious God is ours-A God of boundless love!

And soon He'll send His heav'nly pow'rs

To carry us above.

5 There we shall see His face,

And never, never sin;

There from the fountain of His grace
Drink endless pleasures in.

6 And now, until we rise

To that immortal state,

The thoughts of such amazing bliss
Should constant joy create.

LXXXIII.--8s.

1 MASTER! we would no longer be
Lov'd by the world that hated Thee,
But patient in Thy footsteps go,
Thy sorrow as Thy joy to know,
We would-and O bestow the pow'r-
With meekness meet the darkest hour,
By shame, contempt, however tried,
For Thou wast scorn'd and crucified.

2 We welcome still Thy faithful word"The cross shall meet its sure reward;" For soon must pass the "little while," When joy shall crown Thy servants' toil:

When we shall hear Thee, Saviour, say
"Arise, my love, and come away;

Look up, for thou shalt weep no more,
But rest on heaven's eternal shore."

LXXXIV.-8, 6.

1 JESUS, in Thee our eyes behold
A thousand glories more

Than the rich gems and polish'd gold,
The sons of Aaron wore.

2 They, first, their own sin-offering brought,
To purge themselves from sin;
Thy life was pure without a spot,
And all Thy nature clean.

3 Fresh blood, as constant as the day,
Was on their altars spilt;
But Thy one offering took away
For ever all our guilt.

4 Thou, great Melchizedec! shalt reign, In peace, on Zion's hill,

(Thyself the Lamb that once was slain), And bear Thy priesthood still.

5 Till then for us to intercede

Before the Father's face,

Be this Thy work, and ours to plead,
Thy merits and His grace.

LXXXV.-8, 7.

1 FLY, ye seasons, fly still faster,
Let the glorious day come on,
When we shall behold our Master
Seated on His heav'nly throne;
When the Saviour

Shall descend to claim His own.

2 What is earth, with all its treasures,
To the joy the Gospel brings?
Well may we resign its pleasures,
Jesus brings us better things;
All His people

Draw from heav'n's eternal springs.

Fly, ye seasons, fly still faster,
Swiftly bring the glorious day;
Jesus, come, our Lord and Master,
Come from heav'n without delay,
Take Thy people,

Take, O take them hence away.

LXXXVI.-8, 7.

1 THE night is wearing fast away, The day of glory 's dawning;
