Von Abraham to David are fourteen geDavid bis auf die babylonische Gefan-nerations; and from David until the genschaft sind vierzehn Glieder. Von carrying away into Babylon are der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis auf Christum sind vierzehn Glieder. 18 Die Geburt Christi war aber also gethan. Als Maria, seine Mutter, dem Joseph vertrauet war, ehe er sie heimholete, erfand sichs, daß sie schwanger war von dem heiligen Geiste. 19 Joseph aber, ihr Mann, war fromm, und wollte sie nicht rügen; gedachte aber, sie heimlich zu verlassen. 20 Jndem er aber also gedachte, slehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des Herrn im Traum, und sprach: Joseph, du Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Gemahl, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr geboren ist, das ist von dem heiligen Geiste. 21 Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, deß Namen sollst du Jesus heißen: denn Er wird sein Volk selig machen von ihren Sünden. 22 Das ist aber alles geschehen, auf daß erfüllet würde, das der Herr durch ben Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht: 23 Siehe, eine Jungfrau wird schwanger seyn, und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen Emanuel heißen, das ist verdolmetschet, Gott mit uns. 24 Da nun Joseph vom Schlaf erwachte, that er, wie ihm des Herrn | fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. 18 T Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24 Then Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Engel befohlen hatte, und nahm sein | Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: Gemahl zu sich; 25 Und erkannte sie nicht, bis sie Ihren ersten Sohn gebar; und hieß seinen Namen Jesus. Das 2 Capitel. Da Jefus geboren war zu Bethlehem im jüdischen Lande, zur Zeit des Königs Herodes, siehe, da kamen die Weisen vom Morgenlande gen Jeru salem, und sprachen: 2 Wo ist der neugeborné König der Juden? Wir haben seinen Stern gefehen im Morgenlande, und sind gekommen ihn anzubeten. 3 Da das der König Herodes hörete, erschraf er, und mit ihm das ganze Jerusalem; 4 und ließ versammlen alle Hohepriester und Schriftgelehrten unter dem Volke; und erforschete von ihnen, wo Christus sollte geboren werden. 5 Und sie sagten ihm: Zu Bethlehem im jüdischen Lande. Denn also stehet geschrieben durch den Propheten: 6 und du Bethlehem im jüdischen Lande, bist mit nichten die kleinste unter den Fürsten Juda; denn aus dir soll mir kommen der Herzog, der über mein Volk Israel ein Herr sey. 7 Da berief Herodes die Weisen heimlich, und erlernete mit Fleiß von ihnen, wann der Stern erschienen wäre; 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her first-born son: and he called his name JESUS. CHAPTER II. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. 7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8 Und wies sie gen Bethlehem, und 8 And he sent them to Bethlesprach: Zichet hin, und forschet flei-hem, and said, Go, and search diliBig nach dem Kindlein; und wenn ihr es findet, so faget mir's wieder, daß ich auch komme und es anbete. 9 Als sie nun den König gehöret hatten, zogen sie hin. Und zogen durch einen andern Weg wieder in ihr Land. 13 Da sie aber hinweg gezogen waren, siehe, da erschien der Engel des Herrn dem Joseph im Traume, und sprach: Stehe auf, und nimm das Kindlein und seine Mutter zu dir, und fliehe in Egyptenland, und bleibe allda, bis ich dir sage; denn es ist vorhanden, daß Herodes das Kindlein suche, dasselbe umzubringen. 13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. 14 Und er stand auf, und nahm das 14 When he arose, he took the Kindlein und seine Mutter zu sich, beh young child and his mother by der Nacht, und entwich in Egypten-night, and departed into Egypt: land; 15 Und blieb allda bis nach dem Tode Herodes, auf daß erfüllet würde, das der Herr durch den Propheten gesagt | hat, der da spricht: Aus Egypten habe ich meinen Sohn gerufen. 15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my Son. 16 Da Herodes nun sah, daß er von 16 TThen Herod, when he saw den Weisen betrogen war, ward er sehr that he was mocked of the wise zornig, und schickte aus, und ließ alle men, was exceeding wroth, and Kinder zu Bethlehem tödten, und an sent forth, and slew all the chilihren ganzen Grenzen, die da zweyjäh-dren that were in Bethlehem, and rig und drunter waren, nach der Zeit, die er mit Fleiß von den Weisen erler net hatte. 17 Da ist erfüllet, das gesagt ist von dem Propheten Jeremia, der da spricht: 18 Auf dem Gebirge hat man ein Geschreh gehöret, viel Klagens, Weinens und Heulens; Rahel beweinete ihre Kinder, und wollte sich nicht troften lassen, denn es war aus mit ihnen. 19 Da aber Herodes gestorben war, siehe, da erschien der Engel des Herrn dem Joseph im Traume in Egyptenland, 20 Und sprach: Stehe auf, und nimm das Kindlein und seine Mutter zu dir, und ziehe hin in das Land Israel; sie sind gestorben, die dem Kinde nach dem Leben standen. in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. 19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. 21 Und er stand auf, und nahm das Kindlein und seine Mutter zu sich, und | fam in das Land Israel. 22 Da er aber hörete, daß Archelaus im jüdischen Lande König war, anstatt seines Vaters Herodes, fürchtete er sich, dahin zu kommen. Und im Traume empfing er Befehl von Gott, und zog in die Derter des galiläischen Landes; 23 und kam, und wohnete in der Stadt, die da heißt Nazareth; auf daß erfüllet würde, das da gesagt ist durch die Propheten: Er soll Nazarenus heiBen. Das 3 Capitel. u der Zeit kam Johannes, der Tall Baptist, preaching in the wil fer, und predigte in der Wüste des Jüdischen Landes, 2 Und svrach: Thut Buße, daß Himmelreich ist nahe herbey gekommen. 3 Und er ist der, von dem der Prophet Jesaias gesagt hat, und gesprochen: Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste, bereitet dem Herrn den Weg, und machet richtig seine Steige. 4 Er aber, Johannes, hatte ein Kleid von Kameelshaaren, und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden; seine Speise aber war Heuschrecken und wilder Honig. 5 Da ging zu ihm hinaus die Stadt Jerusalem, und das ganze füdische Land, und alle Länder an dem Jordan; 6 und ließen sich taufen von ihm im Jordan, und bekannten ihre Sünden. 7 Als er nun viele Pharifäer und Sadducäer sah zu seiner Taufe kommen, sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr Otterngezüchte, wer hat denn euch gewiesen, daß ihr dem zukünftigen Zorne entrinnen werdet? 8 Sehet zu, thut rechtschaffene Früchte der Buße. 9 Denket nur nicht, daß ihr beh euch wollt fagen: Wir haben Abraham zum Bater. Ich sage cuch: Gott vermag dem Abraham aus diesen Steinen Kinder zu erwecken. those days came John the derness of Judea, 2 And saying, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way the Lord, make his paths straight. of 4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, 6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. 7 ¶ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. |
