MONDAY MORNING.

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not; they are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. Lam. iii. 22, 23.

So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Ps. xc. 12.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless his holy name. Ps. ciii. 1. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Ps. ciii. 2.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. Matt. xxvi. 41.

LET US PRAY.

O God, who art mercifully pleased to hear the prayers of such as call upon Thee, teach

us, by Thy Holy Spirit, how to pray in an acceptable manner.

We humbly desire to thank Thee for having preserved us during the past night, and for having renewed Thy goodness unto us this morning. O take us into thy guidance and protection during the day, and so govern us by Thy grace, that we may try neither to think nor to act in a manner which would displease Thee, for Thou art the God of our salvation; on Thee would we wait all the day. O create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew right spirits within Grant us a large portion of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may have strength to overcome the temptations of the

lusts of the flesh.

Subdue our pride, and

mild, peaceable, meek,

and humble spirits; that, remembering our

own infirmities, we may bear with those of others. Make us to esteem the praise of

a good conscience more than all the praise of men. Search us, O God, and know our hearts try us, and know our thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting.

Let faith each meek petition fill,

And waft it to the skies:

And teach our hearts 'tis goodness still,
That grants it, or denies.

The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him Ps. ciii. 17.

He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. Ps. cii. 17.

Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God. Matt. V. 9.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Heb. xii. 14.

We which have believed, do enter into rest. Heb. iv. 3.

Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. Prov. xiii. 18.

He that spareth his rod but he that loveth him betimes. Prov, xiii. 24.
