3. Optics, with a special reference to optical instruments employed in surveying and astronomical observations. Any Candidate who has passed Examination A may also offer himself for examination in Drawing or in Music. No Candidate will be examined in more than two of the above subjects; and a Certificate will be granted to any Candidate who passes a satisfactory examination in any one of these three subjects.

UNIVERSITY OF DUBLIN.

AFTER due inquiry, I find that it is premature to state more with reference to Trinity College, Dublin, than that the subject of MiddleClass Examinations, more or less similar to those adopted at Oxford and Cambridge, has been referred to a Committee, and that some progress has been made in the consideration of the subject, but nothing as yet has been decided.
