This Herbarium comprises, First: An INDIGENOUS collection of plants, containing from three to four thousand specimens. The nucleus of this collection was formed by MR. TEESDALE, a well-known Botanist, nearly forty years ago, at a time when few foreign plants had been introduced or cultivated in this country.-This portion of the collection is exceedingly valuable from its undoubted genuine character, and alone cost the late Mr. Aiton forty guineas.

Second: Eight hundred Alpine plants collected by M. SHLEICKER, the well-known Alpine collector, of Bex in Switzerland.

Third; A miscellaneous collection of native and foreign plants, formed by MR. AITON; most of them probably used by him to illustrate his great work, the Hortus Kewensis.
