This is one of the most beautiful and attractive works ever published, and is executed in a similar style to Roberts's Views in the Holy Land, Egypt, &c. Seldom have there been conjoined in one work the productions of so many first-rate artists, whose Drawings were made expressly for this work. This is undoubtedly the finest coloured work ever produced in any country. Nothing can surpass the exquisite colouring and delicate finish of the plates in the British Gallery, which have all the appearance of the most carefully executed miniatures. The cost of producing it was enormous, and the few copies which were issued in this splendid manner were charged at no less a sum than £329. 148.
