Drayton Aspenned

Was elected to the office of Commissioner of Shell Fisheries for Providence county by the General Assembly, January 16, A. D. 1906, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of James M. Wright.

Held the office of Commissioner of Shell Fisheries, with two assistants, continuously from January, A. D. 1869, to February, A. D. 1895. Office of one Commissioner of Shell Fisheries with two assistants abolished at January session of the General Assembly, 1895. Five commissioners were substituted, one for each county, in 1895, with authority to elect a clerk. Elected clerk of the commission upon the organization thereof, and has held the position up to the present time.
