At Clapham, Surrey, of a dropfy, Martin Petrie, efq. formerly a partner in the houfe of Nath, Eddowes, and Petrie, confiderable linen-merchants in the American trade, particularly in calicos, which declined greatly on the American war; afterwards fecretary to the Commiffioners under the first Exchequer Loan for the Relief of Commercial Credit, and commiffary-general of accompts to the English Army in the Mediterranean and in Portugal during the laft war. Since his return to England he held a fituation under the Commiffioners for adjusting the Claims of the Merchants of this Country on the American Government under a particular Convention. He married the youngest daughter of the late Mr. James Johnfon, by whom he had ten children, four fons and fix daughters; three of the latter are married; one of them to the Rev. Mr. Saville, of Clapham, another to Mr. Beddom, of Thames-ftreet, 1804. His fon, Martin, received, fince his father's death, an appointment of affistant-commiffary to the Army at Malta. 23. In his 79th year, William Butter, M.D. of Lower Grosvenor-ftreet, fellow of the College of Phyficians at Edinburgh, at the Univerfity of which city he took the degree of M. D. in 1761, after havingbeen ten years a member of the Medical Society there. He was author of a Treatife on the Chin-cough, and of fome other medical works; and, for fome time previous to his refidence in London, practifed as a phyfician at Derby. 24. At Radford-house, co. His remains were interred in the family vault at Storeham, in Hampshire, where thofe of the brave Admiral were depofited. He is fucceeded in titles and eftates by his eldeft fon, the Hon. Edward-Hervey Hawke, who is married to the heirefs of the late Colonel flervey, of Wormerdley, in Yorkshire, and has taken the name and arms of Hervey, in addition to his own.
