THE fociable Being, and he owes M Honour and Worship to God his Creator, in his focial as well as his fingle Capacity: He owes alfo Affiftance to his Fellow-Creatures, in the Affairs of Religion, as well B as as in thofe of the Natural and Civil Life. Social Religion is therefore the Duty of every Man, where he can meet with fuch FellowWorshippers, as to lay a Foundation for amicable Union in the fame Acts of Worhip, and for mutual Help in religious Con cerns And these three, following Reafons, among others, oblige him to it. (1.) As he is bound to exprefs to God in fecret, and alone, what Senfe he has of the Divine Being, Attributes, and Government, fo he is obliged to join with others, and publickly to declare to the World, what an aweful and honourable Apprehenfion he has of the fame Things: And this, that he may do Honour to God amongst Men, or glorify his Name amongst his Fellow-Creatures; which fecret Religion cannot do. This is the chief End with Regard to God, for which Man's very Nature is made fociable, and for which he is conftituted by Providence in human Society. This is the first Spring, and the perpetual Foundation, of all focial and pub lick Religion: For this End, focial Honours paid to God fhall be everlasting. This is practifed in the Society of holy Angels, thofe Sons of God, who fang together, and shouted for foy, when the Foundations of the Earth were laid; and who met together at certain Seafons, to prefent themselves before God.
