II. CHRONICLES. is fucceeded by Feboabaz. fand bullocks: these were of the king's fub- unto the words of Necho from the mouth ftance. of God, and came to fight in the valley of Mt. giddo.

8 And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites : Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the houfe of God, gave unto the priests for the paffover-offerings two thousand and fix hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.

23 And the archers fhot at king Jofiah; and the king faid to his fervants, Have me away; for I am fore wounded.

9 Conaniah alfo, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel his brethren, and Hathabiah, and Jehiel, and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for patfover-offerings five thoufand Small cattle, and five hundred oxen.

24 His fervants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the fecond chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerufalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the fepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerufalem mourned for Jofiah.

10 So the fervice was prepared, and the priests flood in their place, and the Levites in their courfes, acccording to the king's commandment.

11 And they killed the paffover, and the priefts fprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites #layed them.

12 And they removed the burnt-offerings, that they might give according to the divifions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Mofes. And fo did they with the oxen.

13 And they routed the paffover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings fod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.

14 And afterward they made ready for themfelves, and for the priests: because the priests the fons of Aaron were bufied in of fering of burnt-offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the fons of Aaron.

15 And the fingers the fons of Afaph were In their place, according to the commandment of David, and Afaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's feer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their fervice; for their brethren the Levites pre. pared for them.

16 So all the fervice of the LORD was prepared the fame day, to keep the parfover, and to offer burnt-offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king Jofiah. 17 And the children of Ifrael that were prefent kept the padover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread, feven days.

18 And there was no paifover like to that kept in Ifrael, from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Ifrael keep fuch a pailover as Jofiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and If. rael that were prefent, and the inhabitants of Jerufalem.

19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jofiah was this paflover kept.

20 After all this, when Jofiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt caine up to fight againit Carchemish by Euphrates: and Jofiah went out against him.

21 But he fent ambaffadors to him, faying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make hafte: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.

22 Nevertheless, Jofiah would not turn his face from him, but diguifed himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not

25 And Jereniiah lamented for Jofial:: and all the finging men and the finging wo. men fpake of Jofiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Ifrael: and, behold, they are written in the lamenta. tions,

26 Now the reft of the acts of Jofiah, and his goodness, according to that which was writ ten in the law of the LORD,

27 And his deeds, firit and laft, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Ifrael and Judah.

3 And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerufalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of filver, and a talent of gold.

4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerufalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

5¶ Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerufalem: and he did that which was evil in the fight of the LORD his God.

6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

7 Nebuchadnezzar alfo carried off the veffels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.

3 And they fet the altar upon his bafes; for fear was upon them because of the people of thofe countries: and they offered burnt-offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt-offerings morning and evening.

4 They kept alfo the feaft of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt-offerings by number, according to the cuftom, as the duty of every day required;

5 And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the fet feaits of the LORD that were confecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a tree. will-offering unto the LORD.

6 From the first day of the feventh month began they to offer burnt-offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.

7 They gave money also unto the mafons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the fea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Perfia.

8 Now in the fecond year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerufalem, in the fecond month, began Zerubbabel the fon of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the fon of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerufalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and up. ward, to fet forward the work of the houfe of the LORD.

and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Ifrael;

2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and faid unto them, Let us build with you: for we feek your God as ye do; and we do facrifice unto him fince the days of Efar-haddon king of Atlur, which brought us up hither.

3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the reft of the chief of the fathers of Ifrael, faid unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an houfe unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Ifrael, as king Cyrus the king of Perfia hath com manded us.

4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

5 And hired counsellors against them, to fruftrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Perfia.

6 And in the reign of Ahafuerus, in the be ginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accufation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerufalem.
