General Editor-J. E. MANSION

1s. net

A new Detailed Catalogue of Modern Language Books (1928), 144 pages, will

be sent on request.

Modern Language Readers for the student who wishes to enlarge his vocabulary through reading. Each book consists of a carefully selected story, or other suitable material, with translation on opposite pages and a few Notes. The Series will include books in all of the principal languages.

The texts afford examples not only of narrative prose, but also very largely of the spoken idiom and conversational style of the present day. Practical purposes have been constantly kept in view in the selection of material.

These volumes allow much ground to be covered rapidly, so that the teacher can greatly widen the field of reading of his class; they afford excellent models of prose composition, and also of elegant and idiomatic translation into the mother tongue.

Of recent inception, the Series has already excited widespread interest among modern language teachers in schools, evening classes, and colleges; wherever it has been adopted for class use the teacher has reported very favourably.

The volumes are of handy size for the pocket-64 × 4 inches. Each contains 128 pages, bound in a stiff paper cover. Price 1s. net. Russian and Portuguese volumes, 1s. 6d. net each.
