* Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward. NORWARD!' be our watchword, mf 2 Glories upon glories Steps and voices joined;

Hath our God prepared,
Seek the things before us,

By the souls that love Him
Not a look behind;

One day to be shared;
Burns the fiery pillar

Eye hath not beheld them,
At our army's head;

Ear hath never heard,
Who shall dream of shrinking,

Nor of these hath uttered
By Jehovah led ?

Thought or speech a word.
Forward through the desert,

Forward, marching forward,
Through the toil and fight;

Where the heaven is bright,
Jordan flows before us,

Till the veil be lifted,
Zion beams with light.

Till our faith be sight.
mf 3 Far o'er yon horizon

Rise the city towers,
Where our God abideth;

That fair home is ours:
Flash the streets with jasper,

Shine the gates with gold,
Flows the gladdening river,
Shedding joys untold.
Thither, onward thither,

In Jehovah's might;
Pilgrims to your country,

Forward into light!

I live ; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.'

mp 2 Yet He found me; I beheld Him
That a time could ever be

Bleeding on the accursèd tree,
When I let the Saviour's pity

Heard Him pray, Forgive them, Father!'
Plead in vain, and proudly answered, And my wistful heart said faintly,
* All of self, and none of Thee!'

P Some of self, and some of Thee!' mp 3 Day by day His tender mercy,

Healing, helping, full and free,
Sweet and strong, and, ah! so patient,

Brought me lower, while I whispered,

· Less of self, and more of Thee!' m 4 Higher than the highest heaven,

88 Deeper than the deepest sea, Lord, Thy love at last hath conquered;

Grant me now my supplication, mf None of self, and all of Thee!'

* The multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul.'

Our hearts in Christian love; ;
The fellowship of kindred minds

Is like to that above.
2 Before our Father's throne

We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,

Our comforts and our cares.
3

We share our mutual woes,

Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows

The sympathizing tear.
mp4

When we asunder part,

It gives us keenest pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart,

And hope to meet again.
mf 5 This glorious hope revives

Our courage by the way,
While each in expectation lives,

And longs to see the day.
6 From sorrow, toil, and pain,

88
And sin we shall be free,
And perfect love and friendship reign

8 Through all eternity.

G

The greatest of these is charity.'
RACIOUS Spirit, Holy Ghost,

Taught by Thee, we covet most,
Of Thy gifts at Pentecost,

Holy, heavenly love.
2 Faith that mountains could remove,

Tongues of earth or heaven above,
Knowledge, all things, empty prove

Without heavenly love.
3 Though I as a martyr bleed,

Give my goods the poor to feed,

All is vain if love I need;
mf Therefore give me love.
m 4 Love is kind, and suffers long;

Love is meek, and thinks no wrong,

Love than death itself more strong;
mf Therefore give us love.
m 5 Prophecy will fade away,

Melting in the light of day;

Love will ever with us stay;
mf Therefore give us love.
6 Faith and hope and love we see,

Joining hand in hand, agree;
f But the greatest of the three,

And the best, is love.
