At the conclusion of the contest it was ascertained that Steinitz and Winawer had tied for first and second prizes, each win. ning twenty four games; Mason with a score of twenty-three, taking third prize; Mackenzie and Zukertort with twenty-two and a half games each, tying for fourth and fifth prizes; and Blackburne taking sixth prize with twenty one and a hali games. This result was not changed in deciding the ties. The amount in prizes was as follows: first, $1200, second, $500, third, $240; fourth, $160; fifth. $120; sixth, $80.
