sists of two "U" shaped steel tube frames, braced by tubes from a point beneath the fuselage, the whole offering very little head resistance. There are two pairs of landing wheels, fitted in the usual manner, mounted on the "U" shaped frames which make easy starting and alighting on almost any sort of ground, including plowed fields. The rear end of the fuselage is supported by a tail skid.

The Leipzig biplane is identically the same as the monoplane excepting, of course, the main supporting surfaces. The main supporting sur

square miles. There are always fourteen machines ready for use, including both monoplanes and biplanes. They are fitted with either four cylinder or six cylinder Mercedes engines of from 85- to 105-horse power. In a recent test Gelerich flew thirty-nine hours. One pilot. Roempler, made two hundred and sixty-three ascents, while the other pilots brought the total up to one hundred and forty-four and one-half hours, all during a single month. There were nine superior certificates and seven pilot's certificates granted with ninteen solo flights with no

faces of the biplane are arrow shaped, that is to say, they are swept backwards from each side of the fuselage forming an open "V" as viewed from above.

It is held that this form prevents side slip and provides great lateral stability. The rear and outer extremities of the wings have upwardly bent ailerons.

In order to facilitate transport by road or rail the struts separating the two planes are halved and hinged in the middle allowing the planes to be folded together. The German hydro-aeroplanes developed at the Leipzig Works have supporting surfaces similar to the biplane or arrow type with the central float which to all intents and purposes is an improved type of hydroplane.

The most interesting part of the hydroplane boat is the submerged part of the hull. The bow or forward rib frame has a sharp rise or step in the floor. The bottom is "V" shaped in front but gradually merges into a flat plane which curves upward toward the rear. The stability of the boat in the water is very great while its buoyancy and peculiar design gives a quick get off.

The passengers sit tandem fashion. The engine is built inside the boat and drives a four bladed propeller through a special clutch and bevel wheel transmission. At the flying school of this German aircraft works there are six very large hangars situated close to the works. The flying ground covers about two and one-fourth

The United Batch Mixer

For the Farmer, Home Builder, and Contractor

[graphic]

If you have sidewalks to lay, foundations to build, or walls, silos, cribs, granaries and bins to erect, put a United Mixer on the job. At the lowest estimate, hand mixing costs $1.25 a cubic yard shoveled into barrows. A United will do the same work, and do it faster and better, at $.40 a yard -or an actual saving of $.85 on every yard of concrete mixed. With an average daily capacity of fifty yards you can save the cost of the mixer IN LESS THAN ONE WEEK. Doesn't that sound good to you?

A stronger mixer for its size can not be built. Note the wide tired, steel wheels, four-inch channel frame, steel axles, steel housing and combined steel and iron drum. Built for hard and constant service.

Price on skids without engine, $100.00.

Let us send you detailed description. Agents wanted. Write today.

Price of Mixer Complete with Engine, Truck and
Housing is $185.00. Capacity Fifty Yards per day.

Aside from the fact of the efficiency, the CASE Husker-Shredder as evidenced by the word of a user from South Dakota (whose name we will give you on request), whose work with a CASE Machine consisted largely of finishing the jobs that others had given up. these machines are designed for absolute safety. The feeder's position is fully five feet away from the snapping rolls. It is impossible for him to get caught in the rolls from the footboard. As to their design, construction and efficiency, let us send you our catalog on Husker-Shredders if you are interested.
