Ch. Sound End Sombrero, probably one of the greatest Bull Terriers of the decade, died on the Pacific Coast. He had crossed the continent twice to compete at New York and was one of the best examples of the White Cavalier.

OCTOBER.

The Noted English Bulldog, Brilliant Stone, of the Dorchester Farm Kennels, owned by Mr. H. D. Coghlan, of Chicago, died at the age of seven years. This dog was the center of more discussion than any Bulldog bred on account of the color of his nose. He was imported by Mr. Peabody, of Toronto, Can., afterward sold to Mr. E. P. Hines, of Niagara, and by him sold to Mr. Coghlan, In type he was considered one of the best Bulldogs in America.

The Great English Setter, Benstone, owned by Jack Dunn, of Baltimore, Md., died. Benstone was a white, liver and ticked dog by Count Whitestone out of Mayme Gilchrist, whelped August 18, 1907, and bred by Col. P. D. Waters. He was a big winner at the trials of 1911, 1912 and 1913.

John Carpenter Vail, widely known as a breeder and trainer of gun dogs, died at Warwick, N. Y., October 27th. He obtained national repu

tation as the owner of the Frank Forester Kennels.

NOVEMBER.

Mr. John Brett, for quite a number of years identified with sporting dogs, removed from New City, N. Y., to Michigan, where he has a position as superintendent for a large game farm.

Mr. George Douglas, of Woodstock, Ont., Canada, died. Mr. Douglas was a popular supporter of amateur sports in nearly every line. As a dog fancier he was best known as a breeder of Cocker Spaniels and his dogs were winners in all the best shows of the United States and Canada. His best dogs were known as Black Duke, Red Mack and Premier.

Mr. T. S. Bellin, of Albany, N. Y., purchased the Bull Terrier, Ch. Wildfire Alive. This dog was whelped June 21, 1915, and bred by Mr. H. K. McCausland, of England.

The Inmates of the Llenrud Kennels of Pekingese were asphyxiated. Among the dogs killed was Saidie Weaver, the most famous brood bitch in America. She was purchased from Mrs. Kennedy for $1,000. In the desire to purchase her back Mrs. Kennedy offered $3,500 to secure her.

The Fox Terriers, Ch. Raby Dazzler and Ch. Holmbury Reve, were purchased by Mrs. C. F. Neilson, of the Rosecroft Kennels, Middlebush, N. J., from Mr. George W. Quintard.

The Old English Sheepdog, Biddy O' The Brambles, imported by Mr. Morris Kinney, died. Brambles had a brilliant show career in this country, defeating every bitch in the country with the exception of Ch. Slumber.

DECEMBER.

Mr. Thomas R. Varick, of Manchester, N. H., imported the smooth Fox Terrier, Barnard's Chief, a big winner in England.

Mr. Herbert Hughes, of Grosse Point, Mich., imported from the kennels of the Duchess of Newcastle, Ch. Chequebook of Notts.

Mr. Andrew Albright, of Newark, N. J., imported the wonderful

Airedale, Elms Primus, winner of championship at the recent Cheetham show, England, and the Great Joint Terrier show in London.

Mr. George S. Thomas, of Hamilton, Mass., purchased the smooth Fox Terrier, Clapton Sensation, from Mr. George Bailey, of Ottawa, Can. The English Mastiff, Ch. Bernice, owned by Mr. Morris Kinney, of Butler, N. J., died. She was the last of a team of Mastiffs which Mr. Kinney imported in 1913.

Fire Destroyed the Valuable Kennels of Mr. and Mrs. John Gans, Jr., of Stapleton, S. I. In the kennels were some of the best German Sheepdogs in America.

The Boston Terrier, Ch. Yankee Doodle Pride, died December 17.

She was credited as being one of the greatest Boston Terrier bitches ever purchased. Pride was owned by Mrs. Francis C. Kendall, of Lexington, Mass.

The Canadian Kennel Club adjusts its difficulties with the Dominion Kennel Club and the list of those who were disqualified is repealed.

Mrs. R. Stuyvesant Pierrepont, of Far Hills, N. J., imports the crack Griffon, Poudie, from the kennels of Miss Johnson, Sunnymede, England. The price paid was $1,500.

Ch. Corry Ransa, the West Highland White Terrier, died at Hempstead, L. I. She was owned by Miss and Mrs. Phelps, of the Rosstor Kennels, Hackensack, N. J.

The Airedale Terrier, Ch. Midiand Royal, died at the kennels of Mr. R. L. Bettis, of California.
