This little Volume, begun several years ago, originated in the desire to provide a selection of Hymns which might assist, under the Divine blessing, in impressing the youthful minds of my dear children with religious truth, and in leading them to Christ, as their only Saviour, that their "meditation of Him," might "be sweet." To them it is especially dedicated, as the fruit of a Parent's love.

In submitting it to a wider circle, I feel that I have little to place in competition with the many admirable selections already published.
