ened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

Isa. 64:1. Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence. 9. Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. 10. Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. 11. Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers ! praised thee, is burnt up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste. 12. Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore? Jer. 10:24. O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

Jer. 14:8. O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night? 9. Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not. 19. Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy Soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble! 20. We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee. 21. Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us. Jer. 32:16-25.

Jer. 17:17. Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil. 18. Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed:

distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.

Lam. 2:18. Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease. 19. Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord : lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

Lam. 5:1. Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach. 16. The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned! 17. For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim. 19. Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation. 20. Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time? 21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. 22. But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us. chapters 1-5.

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. 4. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. 5. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. 6. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corLam. 1:9.
