Preface.

THE object of the following pages is to portray the mind of Jesus, in a variety of aspects, during His mission of mercy upon earth.

To give an outline, with a little filling up of the spiritual likeness of Jesus, in the prominent parts, as well as in some of the undertones, was the idea which at first presented itself to the mind. The tracing out of a hard outline, with a vacant, expressionless look, would have answered no purpose. A full view, or full-size portrait, may not have been obtained; but if a miniature or a profile has been secured from the sitting, and should the same be realised in the reading, two of the proposed objects of the volume will be gained.

In order to secure the right point of view, and to mirror the Spirit of the Merciful One with a clearness of vision, the Saviour's own method has been adopted, namely, illustration
