The publishers, under the authority of the Senate, have enlarged the work by making it embrace the laws of the Thirty-First Congress, and the treaties made public since 1849. The references to the laws published since 1845 are made to the ninth volume of the Statutes at Large, the pamphlet editions published by Lile & Brown, having been combined in a supplementary volume.
