3. His breath departeth, he returneth to his earth, and then all his designs vanish.

4. Happy is the man who hath the God of Jacob for his help, and whose hope is in the LORD his God;

5. Who made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all things that are therein; who keepeth his promise for ever; 6. Who executeth judgement for the oppressed; who giveth food to the hungry.

7. The LORD releaseth the captives; the LORD openeth the eyes of the blind.

8. The LORD raiseth up those who are fallen; the LORD loveth the righteous.

9. The LORD guardeth the strangers; he supporteth the fatherless and widow, and subverteth the way of the wicked.

10. The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, through all generations.

PSALM CXLVII.

PRAISE the LORD; surely it is good to sing praises unto our God; surely it is a joyful and pleasant thing to be thankful. 2. The LORD rebuildeth Jerusalem, and gathereth together the dispersed of Israel.

3. He healeth those who are broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

4. He telleth the number of the stars, and calleth them all by their names.

5. Great is our LORD, and abounding in power; his wisdom is infinite.

6. The LORD supporteth the meek, he humbleth the wicked down to the ground. 7. Sing ye unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praises with the harp unto our God:

8. Who covereth the heaven with clouds, and prepareth rain for the earth; who maketh the grass to grow upon the mountains;

9. Who giveth to the beasts their food, even to the young ravens when they cry. 10. He hath no pleasure in the strength of the horse; neither delighteth he in the force of man.

11. But the LORD delighteth in those who fear him, and who place their trust in his mercy.

12. Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

13. For he strengtheneth the bars of thy gates, and blesseth thy children within thee.

14. He maketh peace in thy borders,

and

and giveth thee abundance of the finest wheat.

15. He sendeth his command upon earth, and his word runneth very swiftly. 16. He giveth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes.

17. He casteth forth his ice by pieces: who is able to abide his frost?

18. He sendeth out his word, and melteth them; he changeth the wind, and the waters flow.

19. He hath declared his word unto Jacob; his statutes and ordinances unto Israel.

20. He hath not done so to any other nation; neither have the heathen knowledge of his laws.

PSALM CXLVIII.

PRAISE the LORD, ye inhabitants of the heavens ; praise him in your high abodes.

2. Praise him, all ye his angels; praise him, all ye his hosts.

3. Praise him, ye sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars and light.

4. Praise him, ye highest heavens; and ye waters that are above the heavens. 5. Let these praise the name of the

LORD;

LORD; for he commanded, and they were created.

6. He established them for ever and ever; he gave them a law which shall not be broken.

7. Praise the LORD, ye inhabitants of the earth, ye sea monsters, and all inhabitants of the deep.

8. Lightning and hail, snow and vapours, wind and storm, fulfilling his word; 9. Mountains and all hills; fruit-bearing trees and all cedars;

10. Wild beasts and all cattle; reptiles and feathered fowls;

11. Kings of the earth and all people; princes and all judges of the world;

12. Young men and maidens, old men and children;

13. Let these praise the name of the LORD for his name always is excellent, and his glory is above heaven and earth.

14. He exalteth the horn of his people; he is the glory of all his saints, even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him.

PSALM CXLIX.

SING unto the LORD a new song; sing his praise in the congregation of the saints.

2. Let Israel rejoice in him who made him, let the children of Zion exult in their King.

3. Let them praise his name in the dance; let them sing praises unto him with tabret and harp.

4. For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people, he adorneth the meek with salvation.

5. Let the saints exult with glory; let them sing aloud at their festivals.

6. Let the praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hands;

7. To execute vengeance upon the nations, and to chastise the heathen:

8. To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with links of iron:

9. That they may execute upon them the judgement that is decreed: such is the honour reserved for all his saints.

PSALM CL.

PRAISE God for his holiness; praise him according to the vast extent of his

power.

2. Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3. Praise him with the sound of the
