I. Translate into English :(α.) Ουχ υμείς λέγετε ότι έτι τετράμηνος έστι, και ο θερισμός έρχεται και ιδού, λέγω υμίν, επάρατε τους οφθαλμούς υμών, και θεάσασθε τας χώρας, ότι λευκαι είσι προς θερισμόν ήδη. Και ο θερίζων μισθών λαμβάνει, και συνάγει καρπόν εις ζωήν αιώνιον· ίνα και σπείρων δμου χαίρη και ο θερίζων εν γαρ τούτω ο λόγος εστίν ο αληθινός, ότι άλλος εστίν ο σπείρων, και άλλος και θερίζων. 'Εγώ απέστειλα υμάς θερίζειν, ό ουχ υμείς κεκοπιάκατε: άλλοι κεκοπιάκασι, και υμείς εις τον κόπον αυτών εισεληλύθατε. Εκ δε της πόλεως εκείνης πολλοί επίστευσαν εις αυτών των Σαμαρειτών, δια τον λόγον της γυναικός μαρτυρούσης, ότι είπέ μοι πάντα όσα εποίησα.

Λέγει ούν και μαθητής εκείνος, ον ηγάπα ο Ιησούς, το Πέτρο, ο Κύριός έστι. Σίμων ούν Πέτρος ακούσας ότι ο Κύριός έστι τον επενδύτην διεζώσατο, ήν γάρ γυμνός, και έβαλεν εαυτόν εις την θάλασσαν.

II. Grammatical Questions. 1. Give the present, future, perfect, and aorist of έρχεται, επάρατε, λαμβάνει, συνάγει, σπείρων, έστη, βάλετε, ευρήσετε, διεζώσατο.

2. Decline, in the singular number, χώρας, άλλος, πολλοί, γυναικός, μαθηται, πλήθους, θάλασσα, εαυτόν.

3. Write out the whole tense of θεάσασθε, κεκοπιάκατε, ήδεισαν, απεκρίθησαν, ηγάπα, διεζώσατο. Say what tenses they are, and what verbs they come from. .

4. What are the augments? When are they severally used, and in what tenses? Give examples.

5. What are the characteristics of the conjugations of verbs in of verbs in ue? Give examples, as far as you can, from the passages

ω, and

before you.

6. Give the derivation of τετράμηνος, προσφάγιον, επενδύτην.

1. What is meant in Chemistry by the expression “atomic weight"? Is there any difference between the atomic weight and the equivalent of a body ?

2. What are the reactions by which chlorine gas is usually made? What are its properties and uses ?

3. How is nitric acid made, and what are its properties ? Explain its action upon metallic copper.

4. What is the difference in composition between calomel and corrosive sublimate ? How are the two compounds respectively prepared ?

5. What are the tests for antimony ?

6. Describe the properties of carbonic oxide, and of carbonic acid. By what reactions are they usually obtained ?
