Wall Pictures have always been an important means of Conversational Instruction, but those hitherto published leave much to be desired, either from the point of view of systematic arrangement, or of truthful and artistic treatment. The above new series, edited under the direction of eminent professors, have proved unrivalled for their scrupulous exactness, artistic composition, and technical execution. The natural and artificial conditions, and the various occupations incident thereto, are represented in a graphic and pleasing manner. The scenery serves to bring out the characteristic features of the pictures. The most important relations of man to nature,-his work, industry, and recreations,-occupy the foreground, the subordinate incidents are depicted in the middle, and the background illustrates various meteorological phenomena. The merry pastimes of children are not forgotten, and due attention is paid to the favourite games and sports of the young. The pictures thus present a series of interesting and animated scenes of incidents of everyday life, providing for the teacher inexhaustible material for Conversational and Object Lessons, and affording to the young pupils a very attractive ensemble of correct ideas and truthful conceptions. Conversation Text Books, in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch, containing Questions, Answers, Exercises, etc., based upon the incidents suggested by the Pictures, can now be had.
