H. Donald Winkler, a writer, editor, and retired university administrator, has spent more than ten years on original research on the women in Abraham Lincoln's life since discovering that he is related to Ann Rutledge. He has received 84 national awards for publications and was inducted into the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame. Formerly from Hilton Head, South Carolina, he and his wife live in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
