The appropriations for the payment of Army and Navy pensions for the year were $20,000,000, together with such unexpended balances as remained on hand June 30, 1884; and these added to the $20,000,000 give the available amount for Army and Navy pensions during the year as above reported. The arrears of pension provided for by the acts of January 25 and March 3, 1879, to those who were in receipt of a pension prior to January 25, 1879, are not included in the above table.
