Reading Communities Reading Scripture: Essays in Honor of Daniel PatteThis volume celebrates the extraordinary work of Daniel Patte. In the last quarter century, Patte stands out as a scholar and teacher instrumental in shaping the character and setting the direction of biblical studies. Author of more than a dozen books and over one hundred articles, Patte is widely known for introducing French structuralist methods into the narrative study of the Bible. Patte has been a major force in bringing international voices into the American exegetical and theological scene. He has helped raise the consciousness of biblical scholars about their responsibilities as critical readers and pedagogues. As General Editor of the journal Semeia, Patte provided a venue for established scholars and aspiring students who pursue alternative ways of reading the Bible critically.
