I present the memorial of Hon. John W. Hoyt in regard to a National University, with an accompanying document, which is a very valuable historical statement on that subject. I move that it be printed and referred to the Select Committee to Establish the University of the United States. The motion was agreed to. Mr. SHERMAN. I move that 5,000 extra copies of the document be printed for the use of the Senate, and that the motion be referred to the Committee on Printing. The VICE-PRESIDENT. Will the Senator from Ohio please repeat his statement? The Chair did not hear it. Mr. SHERMAN. The Senator from Vermont presented a memorial accompanied by a very valuable document in regard to the National University and moved that it be referred to the committee on that subject, of which I happen to be a member, and printed. I move that 5,000 extra copies may be printed for the use of the Senate. I do not know what it will cost to print that number. I ask that the motion to print extra copies be referred to the Committee on Printing. The VICE-PRESIDENT. That order will be made in the absence of objection. SESSION OF AUGUST 5, 1892. Mr. MANDERSON, from the Committee on Printing, to whom was referred the following resolution, reported it without amendment, and it was considered by unanimous consent and agreed to: Ordered, That 5,000 additional copies of the memorial of John W. Hoyt in relation to the establishment of the University of the United States, with the accompanying paper, be printed for the use of the Senate. 11 |
