3 The eternal Teacher still survives
New comforts to impart;
Still animates our heart.
This promise is our trust;
When we are cold in dust. 298.
Close of Divine Service. 8.7.4. 1 LORD! dismiss us with Thy blessing,
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
0! refresh us,
For Thy gospel's joyful sound;
May Thy presence
Us from earth to call away,
May we ever
Brought the Shepherd of the sheep,
All our souls in safety keep.
What is pleasing in His sight;
And preserve us day and night.
Who the covenant seald with blood,
Loud thanksgivings to our God.
8.7. LORD, dismiss us with Thy blessing;
Bid us all depart in peace;
Let our faith and love increase :
Up to Thee our hearts we raise !
Hallelujah! 301. At Parting
L.M. LORD, now we part in Thy blest name,
In which we here together came;
Grant us our few remaining days
To work Thy will, and spread Thy praise. 2 Teach us in life and death to bless
The Lord our strength and righteousness ;
Then shall we better sing Thy love! 302. Benediction.
8.7. MAY the grace of Christ our Saviour,
And the Father's boundless love,
Rest upon us from above ! 2 Thus may we abide in union
With each other, and the Lord ;
Joys which earth cannot afford.
L.M. 1 PRAISE God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. 304. Doxology.
One God whom we adore,
now, And shall be evermore!
X. MISCELLANEOUS. 305.
The Hour of Prayer.
Go when the noon is bright,
Go in the hush of night;
Cast earthly thoughts away,
Do thou in secret pray.
All who are loved by thee,
Tf any such there be ;
A blessing humbly claim,
Thy great Redeemer's name.
In solitude to pray-
When friends are round thy way, —
The spirit raised above,
Of mercy, truth, and love.
Before His footstool fall,-
His love, who gave thee all !
Oh! not a joy or blessing
With this can we compare,
To pour our souls in prayer !
10s. ABIDE with me! Fast falls the eventide ;
abide : When other helpers fail, and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me! 2 Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see :
O Thou, who changest not, abide with me! 3 Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word,
But as Thou dwell'st with Thy disciples, Lord-
Come not to sojourn, but abide with me. 4 I need Thy presence every passing hour,What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's
power ? Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be ?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me; 5 I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless ;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
