THESE Prayers were originally contributed by their respective Authors to assist in supplying the necessary means for the erection of a School-room in the parish of Barton-le-Street, and are now republished, in an abridged form, with a view to obtain assistance towards building a Chapel in the hamlet of Butterwick, in the same parish.

The Editor regrets that the places in each prayer have not been marked where the additional petitions may be most appropriately introduced. He would suggest that this omission, after due examination, be supplied by affixing to those places, the number of the page where the petition, best suited to each prayer, is found.
