SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the governor of the state of Illinois is hereby authorized to purchase, in the name of the state of Illinois, the lot of ground in which now repose the remains of Stephen A. Douglas, deceased, to-wit: Lot one, (1,) of the lower tier of Oakenwald, subdivision of part of the south half of the north-east quarter of section 34, township 39 north, range 14 east, in the city of Chicago, Cook county, Illinois, and now owned by Mrs. A. Douglas; the same to be held as a burial place for said deceased, and for no other purpose; and the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars, or such less sum as may be required, is hereby appropriated out of any unappropriated Governor's cer- money in the treasury. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the sum of five thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated, to be paid out of any funds in the treasury, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying the postage of the present general assembly.

2. On the certificate of the secretary of state, showing the amount of postage used by this general assembly, rot exceeding the said sum of five thousand dollars, the auditor of public accounts shall draw his warrant on the treasury, in favor of the postmaster of the city of Springfield, for the sum so certified by the secretary of state.

In force Feb. 16, AN ACT to define the duties of the auditor in regard to the preparation of bank note plates and impressions, and to afford greater security in the safe keeping of the same.

That whenever any bank of this state, organized under the provisions of the general banking law, shall desire an order from the auditor of public accounts, for the engraving of any bank note plate or the printing of any bank note impressions, to Auditor to issue be used by such bank as notes of general circulation, it shall be lawful for the auditor to issue such order to any engra ving or bank note company that he may approve, for the performance of the work required, under such general regu lations as he may prescribe, not inconsistent with the provisions of said general banking law, or of this act; such work to be in all cases done at the expense of the bank, and to be so expressly stated in the order.

AN ACT to provide for the payment of interest of certain state bonds.

Illinois and Michigan canal bonds, numbered from 900 to
993, and from 886 to 899, was suspended until otherwise
provided by law; and whereas full payment has now been
made to the state for all of said bonds, including principal
and interest, and all of said bonds, except sixteen, have
been taken up by the state; therefore,
